He did not ring. His sister did
Malwina asked whether I could help make her brother’s dream come true. Sure, why not.
The dream was a book. Mateusz Rabenda has been teaching snowboarding since 2009 and is known among instructors as Doktor Jibb. He had written something about how to learn freestyle – about a thing people normally learn by watching, falling over and taking advice from strangers on the lift.
The text was finished. After that begins the part an author usually does not want to do alone.
Between a written book and a book somebody is holding stands a whole machine. Authors rarely get access to it.
What had to go through that machine
Editing. Proofreading. Artwork and typesetting. DTP, print preparation, print. Then a sales channel, because a book with nowhere to buy it is just a box in a cellar: a site and a store where Mateusz sells directly, with nobody in between. Then the warehouse, packing, shipping and order handling. Support with promotion along the way.
It worked
Jak polubić na niej być (How to enjoy being on it) is published, it sits in the store, and it goes out in parcels to people who want to learn this properly rather than from chance tips on a chairlift.
We like helping people make their dreams happen. It sounds like a slogan off a mug, but here it happens to be a plain description of what took place.

A handbook of snowboard freestyle. The author arrived with a finished text – editing, proofreading, artwork, typesetting, DTP, print preparation and print were on our side. The last photo shows what the book is about.
Store
